rant and ramblings

December 17th, 2014 by

We could learn a lot from dogs. Can you imagine how the world would be if everyone just loved unconditionally and always lived in the moment.

Bubba just accepts that there is no longer a 2nd front leg. To him, it’s just gone. Deal with it and keep doing whatever he wants. I sit here and watch him on the couch, chewing on Giblet or Rumpy (his best kitty buddy). He’s Happy! People going through this same thing would be feeling sorry for themselves.. but not a dog. I get so emotional when I watch him.. right now he is probably chasing rabbits in his dreams. His leg are moving like crazy and the muscles in the shoulder where there used to be a leg is twitching. He has 4 legs in his dreams 🙂

I know I am rambling but I haven’t really taken the time to think about what I am feeling, but tonight for some reason it wants to come out. From the first day.. the day when the doc said she thought it was cancer, I have known that we would do whatever it takes to save him. I was pretty upset when I realized that I didn’t have any support from family members. They think we are wasting money on a dog.. just a dog. I don’t understand that. Our dog is much more enjoyable than those family members and much much nicer. But.. they don’t lick their butts lol. Anyways.. I’m done with the rant

I didn’t like the way Bubba’s staples looked and the poor boy had very loose stools so I took him to the vet to have her check the staples and make sure that what he was going through was normal. She assured me that he was absolutely perfect and gave me medication for colitis. No more pain meds!!
I am about ready to pass out so this is it for today. This may seem like a really stupid post but when I go back to it later I will be able to see the emotions that I’m going through

Well I hope you are passing out from too much whine and chocolate! The whole process from the shock of the diagnosis to the numbness of preparing for the amputation to seeing the pet we love dearly dozy from the anesthetic. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. So surround yourself with supporters and butt lickers (dogs and cats) and have a happy holiday season with that Bubba. And post some photos if you can.

I’m not much of a wine person, but cold beer would do just fine!! I think the amount of time spent with my butt lickers is the reason I like them so much more than most people lol. Besides Bubba, we have a chiweenie, and 5 1/2 cats. The 1/2 cat is a stray that I’ve been working on.. I would like to get her inside before the bad weather hits. I really do need to post more pictures. He is always doing something dorky and cute lol. We are going to have a very quiet peaceful Christmas…. I hope you do too!!

Ahhhh . . . rant and ramblings . . . that really does define how our brains (and hearts) are working on little sleep and worried thoughts. I think that’s the best thing about blogging. I think they were created for ranters and ramblers! LOL!

I love watching them dream and chase rabbits.

    . . . (heavy sigh) . . .

We all know what you’re feeling with dealing with people who just think “it’s just a dog.” That’s why this community is so great!! We all get that they are more than “just a dog”…they are our child…our family. And we are their pack to them. Never doubt yourself because of what family members may say (not that I think you are)…you did a wonderful thing for Bubba and hopefully this will give him many more years with you and his furry siblings…pain free of course.

I know the recovery period is tiring but it will get better once you and Bubba are past this. You’ll get a routine back and hopefully more restful sleep.

Good luck with getting your 1/2 cat to come in from the cold. I’m sure she’ll begin to trust you soon.

Sending you and your pack Happy Holiday Wishes!!

PS…more pictures of sweet Bubba would be AWESOME!!

“He has 4 legs in his dreams” I have tears in my eyes at that thought. What a sweet story. You guys are so wonderful. It gives me faith in humanity when I hear and read stories like yours. I am going to cry so much too when my baby finally gets her operation on Tuesday. Its wonderful to read other people’s stories and see how the puppies are so much better after.
